Portable power bank sales through the roof since Pokemon Go

PORTABLE power banks are "running out the door" as Pokemon Go users burn through their phone batteries playing the game that has the world obsessed.

A Telstra spokesman said they had seen a huge influx in sales since the game launched.

"It's clear that our customers love the Pokemon Go experience with portable power banks running out the door," the spokesman said.

"We've seen a spike in demand for these in the past week with customers looking to recharge their battery on the go so they don't miss a moment of the Pokemon Go action."

For those fretting about their potentially monster phone bill looming around the corner, the spokesman said to rest easy.

"Whilst this game has been a phenomenon, there is no impact to our network and, as it uses cached maps, Pokemon Go will use a small amount of data for a typical user," they said.

If you need a device to play the game on (when it's released on tablets) - we're giving away a FREE Samsung Tab 3 Lite with our latest digital subscription offer. It includes 12 months unlimited access to our digital site and e-newspaper, unlimited access to The Courier Mail+ (The Daily Telegraph+ for NSW), The Washington Post and to three months of TV streaming service Presto - and we'll throw in a free Samsung Tab 3 Lite just for fun. That's $450 of value for only $249.
