Hurst taking praise in her stride
PORT City Power guard Natalie Hurst has won her second 2010 Queensland Basketball League Player of the Week award with a dominant display in her side’s seven-point win over Rockhampton last Saturday.
The pivotal Power player picked up her first triple double of the year with a game high 13 rebounds, along with 17 points and 13 assists.
Hurst said the award was a good honour, but that individual recognition was not a priority.
“The win was the most important thing,” she said.
The six-time WNBL champion is averaging a healthy 23.3 points per game in 2010, but history suggests that stat could swell in the finals.
In three 2009 play-off games she averaged 38.6 points per game with a lowest return of 37.
“I try not to change my game from the regular season to the finals,” Hurst said.
“We have six or seven players who can come up with double figures; I’m happy for anyone who gets those numbers as long as we win.”
