Poor NRL draw ruffles Roosters' feathers

SYDNEY Roosters coach Trent Robinson is not happy with the NRL schedule saying mismanagement has harmed his side's games against rivals South Sydney.

Robinson hit out at organisers saying the rivalry and gate revenue have both been impacted by the draw.

The Roosters coach said the lead-up to the match has been over-shadowed by Origin with his side also heading into the game without Origin stars Boyd Cordner, Mitchell Pearce, Dylan Napa and Blake Ferguson.

"I think you've got to remember that you can't forget about rivalries in our sport,” Robinson said.

"The scheduling this year of our rounds haven't brought on that clash, haven't built up that rivalry like it should externally which brings crowds, which brings money into our game.”

Games between the Roosters and the Rabbitohs are traditionally massive with average attendance doubling from nearly 15,000 to just under 30,000 for the showdowns.

It is the second time this season scheduling of Roosters-Rabbitohs clashes has been bought into question with their traditional opening round match moved to round four this year.

The timing of the game is also one of several odd decisions made this year.

Earlier in the season Melbourne and North Queensland clashed without their Origin stars and the Storm headed to Adelaide just three days after Game II without their Maroons contingent.
