Pooches pose for pawtraits

MANY of the pooches and cats who were lucky enough to visit Gladstone's Petbarn today were treated to a hydro-bath before posing for a photograph.

As many as 150 pet owners and shoppers flocked to the pet store for an Aqua Fun Day where there were discounts on fish and aquatic items.

But the opportunity to pay just $5 for a professional photo of their pet was what attracted owners.

Photographer Samantha Murray, who owns Centre Stage Photography, said she snapped 36 "pawtraits" of cats and dogs over two hours.

"They were all looking very smart," she said.

"The Petbarn has a hydro-bath in their store, so they were all spruced up and smelt nice."

The Gladstone and District Wildlife Association were also fundraising at the event by selling calendars that feature photos of rescued wildlife.

Ms Murray documents the recovery of animals for the Wildlife Association from their rescue to release.
