Politicians chasing votes on the run in Flynn

VOTERS in Flynn have been surrounded by a political circus of rotating pollies, policies and funding announcements over the past few weeks.

It's not over yet either - with nine days to go, expect the voices to be louder and the pollies to be making a mad dash around the electorate as each serious candidate ensures they are in with a chance.

Looking at some of the major policies and funding announced so far, the Labor party has admitted it needs to win Flynn, and in Gladstone we've seen Deputy Prime Minister Anthony Albanese make two major funding announcements - to commit $10million of the $25million Kin Kora roundabout project, and $9million for the $40million Philip Street project.

They've committed $20million to trade training centres and $550,000 of a $1.5million redevelopment at Barney Point.

In comparison, Ken O'Dowd has been talking up the Coalition's Australia-wide policies which he believes will help the country get out of a dire economic situation as well as cutting red tape for small businesses.

Last week deputy opposition leader Julie Bishop joined Mr O'Dowd to announce $195,380 for upgrades to the Meteors Sports Club in Gladstone, as well as $35,000 for CCTV cameras at the PCYC.

The Coalition has also been kicking along regional and rural health with more than $100m in funding to make it a priority.
