Poll slams government

MOST of us think the Newman government is doing a "terrible" job.

That's according to a state-wide survey conducted by APN, evaluating the performance of the new LNP State Government.

In the Gladstone region, 149 people took part in the study.

Though it's only a small sample, when we asked people on the street what they thought, their opinions mirrored the survey in many circumstances.

Only 18.1% of those who did vote for LNP said they would have voted differently if they had known about the changes.

It turns out 57.7% thought the Newman government performed worse than expected since taking office. And 50.3% expected the Newman government to be worse for regional areas.

Also, 48.3% said they had no clear idea about the party's messages or its intention for the future.

Though it seems the cuts to public services has had the most impact on people's opinion of the Newman government, as 58.4% said it negatively impacted their level of support.

More than half of those surveyed, 56.4%, did not regard Campbell Newman as an effective leader.

YOUR THOUGHTS?

Out of 149 people who answered the question, 57.7% thought the Newman government had performed worse than expected.

And 40.9% were negative about Queensland's future.
