Police probe after burnt cat found in bag

POLICE are investigating a case of possible animal cruelty after the burnt remains of a cat were found inside a bag which was set on fire at Capalaba.

A police spokeswoman said it was not known whether the cat was dead or alive when the fire was started about 6.35pm on August 11.

It occurred near a clothing business on the corner of Old Cleveland Road and Cleveland Road.

Officers passing by noticed the small blaze and tried putting it out with an extinguisher before firefighters arrived.

The spokeswoman said the cat's owner was unknown.
