THE number of misbehaving Schoolies is down on the Gold Coast so far this year and police say they are relatively happy with the 20,000-odd school leavers.

The party goers celebrated their first few days of Schoolies celebrations last weekend and police were out in full force, arresting 43 people.

There were 10 less arrests than the same time last year on the Gold Coast.

On Sunday night alone police arrested 19 schoolies, including 10 for minor drug offences, and a majority were males.

However, police confirmed there were more non-schoolies arrested over the weekend than legitimate school leavers.

Forty-six people were arrested and charged with 54 offences, which were not schoolies related.

Queensland Police said in a statement they were pleased with the Schoolies' behaviour.
