Police officer splattered in blood making arrest

A POLICEMAN was splattered in blood and a colleague injured when struggling with a man arrested at Dalby on Monday.

Police officers responding to a disturbance at a Pratten St, Dalby, address about 5.30pm found an agitated 21-year-old man bleeding from injuries sustained earlier.

He became aggressive toward police and was arrested but a struggle ensued during which a policeman was splattered on the face and arms with the offender's blood.

During the struggle a policewoman was knocked down a flight of stairs and sustained injuries to her knees and ankle, Dalby police said.

The 21-year-old man was charged with serious assault of police, obstructing police and two offences under the Weapons Act including unlawfully possessing a semi-automatic rifle.

He was bailed to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on January 27.
