Police news: Speeding, drunk and disqualified drivers

THE Gladstone Police was kept busy last night on the region's roads nabbing people who were over the legal blood alcohol limit, speeding and other offences.

A 27 year old man was caught speeding 49km over the road limit on the Bruce Hwy at Mt Larcom.

The Mitsubishi Lancer driver was caught driving 149km in the 100 zone.

He was handed an infringement notice.

A man was caught driving with a disqualified licence in Boyne Island, but it's not his first offence.

During a routine licence check the Tannum Sands Police found the 28 year old had a disqualified licence, which was his fifth offence of the kind in the last five years.

His vehicle was impounded and he will front the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

At 8.30am the police nabbed a drink driver on the Bruce Hwy at Calliope.

The 44 year old man returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.062.
