PSPA revoked as Mt Isa man taken into custody

UPDATE: Police have revoked the emergency declaration made in relation to a man inside a Mt Isa residence making threats.

Officers were called to the Webb Street home around 1.20pm after reports of a man allegedly armed with a knife making threats to police.

The man was taken into police custody around 5pm and the PSPA was revoked at 5.15pm.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

EARLIER: POLICE in Mt Isa are negotiating with a man who is said to be inside a home and making threats.

Police said officers were called to the Webb Street home at about 1.20pm.

"An emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act was made around 2.10pm and relates to Webb, East, Hilary and Marian streets," the spokesperson said.

"The man is alone inside the house and it is believed he may have access to knives."
