Police make breakthrough in Gatton suspicous death

POLICE believe they have made a breakthrough in the 2012 suspicious death case in Gatton.

On August 23, 2012 police located the body of 25-year-old Hong Kong resident Shui Ki Chan on the side of the Warrego Highway near UQ Gatton around 10am.

At the time police found no witnesses.

Police said the man had left the College View McDonalds at 7pm the previous night and was riding a push bike westbound to the Gatton Caravan Park.

They said he had ridden one kilometre on a red bicycle, wearing dark clothing, when he was struck by a vehicle or an object attached to a vehicle.

His body remained on the side of the road in long grass until another cyclist made the discovery.

Police say that a recent appeal for public assistance received reports that a blue late 90s model Ford Falcon sedan was seen in the area.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the vicinity of the Warrego Highway near the University of Queensland, Gatton Campus between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on 22 August 2012 to contact either Gatton Police direct on 5468 3266 or Crimestopper on 1800 333 000.
