UPDATE: Police hunt pair after dramatic stolen car chase

UPDATE, 1PM: POLICE are investigating yesterday's incident in which a stolen car was driven into a gully before the two occupants ran from authorities.

The suspects were spotted in a stolen Mitsubishi Lancer at Redbank Plains just after midday when they evaded a police crew.

The car was spotted in a gully with the engine still running near the intersection of Cashmere and Tindle Streets a short time later.

The Polair chopper and dog squad were called in, however police were not successful in finding either of the men.

The vehicle was stolen from a house in Camira during a sneak break-in on Tuesday.

This morning, police said investigations into the identities of the men were ongoing.

 

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, 3.30PM: Police are on the hunt for two men who dumped a stolen car and fled after a failed attempt to pull them over.

Redbank Plains residents were alerted to the drama just after midday today.

Police said a silver Mitsubishi Lancer hatchback that had been reported stolen from Camira was spotted in the area about 12.20pm.

They attempted to pull the driver over but he evaded them.

A short time later, the car was found dumped near a creek in the vicinity of Cashmere and Tindle streets, with the engine still running.

Police called in the Polair chopper and the dog squad to search for the two suspects.

The vehicle was reported stolen following a sneak break in at a home on Steven St, Camira on Tuesday, in which the victim's mobile phone was also taken.
