Police ask for McCulkin murder informant to call back

POLICE are putting out the word to have an anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers, who had information about the deaths of Barbara McCulkin and her daughters Vicki and Leanne, to call back.

Warwick man Vincent O'Dempsey, 76 is one of two charged with their murders.

Police allege the women were killed because they had information about the 1973 fire that engulfed the Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, killing 15.

On Friday, Queensland's Homicide Cold Case Team detectives asked for an anonymous caller who contacted Crime Stoppers last Wednesday to again come forward.

Detective Inspector Mick Dowie said the anonymous caller contacted Crime Stoppers on Wednesday October 22, around 12.30pm.

"The caller has provided information to Crime Stoppers that is of considerable interest to investigators regarding the suspected murders of Barbara, Leanne and Vicki McCulkin in 1974," he said.

"We are hopeful this person will again contact Crime Stoppers or the Homicide Group.

"The caller's identity can be protected, we just need to speak to them about their information."
