Gladstone Phoenix Power players go pink for good cause

GLADSTONE'S Phoenix Power are set to turn a shade of pink, as the men's and women's basketball teams step up to fight breast cancer.

And the McGrath Foundation fundraiser will bring mixed emotions for coach Dale Iwanicki and his wife Dana.

Just after Christmas, Dana's mother Lin Gregory was diagnosed with breast cancer, and passed away just a few weeks later.

"By the time they diagnosed it, there was nothing they could do," Dale said.

The sad loss inspired the couple to tackle the issue, and this Saturday's double-header at Kev Broome Stadium will feature an auction of the special edition pink uniforms, and a percentage of door takings donated to the cause.
