Plans for Kin Kora roundabout due by October

DESIGN and planning for the new Kin Kora roundabout in Gladstone is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

Responding to a question in state parliament from Member for Gladstone Liz Cunningham, Transport Minister Scott Emerson said the Transport and Main Roads Department had made progress on the design and planning stage.

Businesses will be surveyed about their operations and access needs, so planning can focus on the least amount of disruptions while construction is underway.

Mr Emerson said negotiations with Gladstone Regional Council would be progressed regarding the relocation of underground utilities.

"Critical to the progression of the upgrade was the reallocation of part of the Lions Park by Gladstone Regional Council to allow for the extra lane," Mr Emerson said.

"This was competed in May."

Milestones over the next 12 months will include the design stage completion in October, relocation of utility services from August to October, start of work in March 2015 and project completion in March 2016.
