Visitor remembers when main street had seven pubs
STREET TALK: Where we catch up with people on the streets of Gladstone and find out what they're up to.
Judith di Lewardo:
I USED to work at the Grand Hotel 50 years ago. That's back when there were around seven pubs on Goondoon.
Boles St caravan park was home for me back then.
My first son Martin was born here.
I'm only passing through today, revisiting places I've worked and saw as a 23-year-old.
Parking compliance officer Suzi:
I'VE only recently moved here from the Gold Coast and I can easily say Gladstone's quite different.
On the Gold Coast I was a transit officer, very different from my high school ambitions of being a pilot.
Though I do have my pilot's licence. I got that at age 17.
I'M a coal train driver in the making. Originally from Redcliffe where I'd been living for 20 years on and off, I really enjoy casting a line.
To date the best catch was when I was on the Gold Coast with a mate.
We went out on his boat and that's where I caught a wahoo.
