PHOTOS: Man, 43, winched off bulk carrier by RACQ
A 43 year old man had to be winched from a bulk carrier off the coast of Gladstone yesterday.
RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked to the rescue on the bulk carrier BM Pavillion Vanda, after the man suffered severe abdominal pain.
Although it was a very large vessel, it was not equipped to land a helicopter, leading the patient to be winched from the vessel.
The rescue stretcher was used to winch him on board the helicopter, where he received treatment by a Queensland Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic.
He remained stable for the duration of the flight and was handed over to Rockhampton Hospital for further treatment.
