PHOTOS: Hundreds brave heat and frock up for Gladstone races

BLISTERING heat didn't stop the crowds donning floral frocks and smart ties flocking to the races.

The Gladstone Turf Club's Valentine's Day Races saw about 600 people through the gates, according to Gladstone Turf Club president David Weinert.

"It's not massive, but maybe 600 to 800, it's a good number," Mr Weinert said.

Many of the punters ditched the heat for the comfort of the shed but that didn't stop the race day fashion.

One man took fashions on the field to the next level with a hand made wooden tie.

The day was full of birthday celebrations and family gatherings as well as friends getting together for a good day out.
