Photography competition helps celebrate Year of the Park

AMATEUR photographers are urged to 'get snapping' as Gladstone Regional Council, together with Australian Pacific LNG, is hosting a Year of the Park photography competition.

The competition, aimed at encouraging residents to get out and explore the region's parks, has some great prizes on offer.

Mayor Gail Sellers said entry to the competition was free and limited to one entry in each category per photographer.

"The competition is now open and entries will be accepted throughout the Year of the Park until 11.59pm, Saturday, November 30, 2013," Cr Sellers said.

Winners will be announced on December 13 and their photographs will be displayed at Tondoon Botanic Gardens art gallery in January 2014.

Category winners will receive $50 voucher and compete for the grand prize, the People's Choice Award.

The winner of the grand prize will receive a $100 gift voucher and be determined via a Facebook voting system which closes at 4pm on December 9.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the council's webpage under the 'Recreation and Culture' tab, then 'Parks and Gardens', then 'Year of the Park Initiative'.

For all enquiries contact the council's parks and environment section on 4977 6899.
