Phillip Hughes honoured with plaque at SCG

THE Sydney Cricket Ground Trust will honour Phillip Hughes with a permanent memorial plaque and bronze bust of the fallen cricketer to be place outside the Australian dressing room.

It is the first time the ground has hosted an international match since the popular cricketer's tragic death at the same ground during a domestic match last year.

The 63 cricket bats that lined the way out to the centre of the ground on the day of Hughes' funeral last month, individually etched with images from Hughes's career, will also be affixed to the outside upper tier of the ground's historic members' stand.

Four Australian players who will take to the field on Tuesday in the Fourth Test against India were competing in the domestic match and witnessed the bouncer that killed Hughes.

All-rounder Shane Watson told News Ltd he had not been back to the ground since shortly after the beloved batsman's funeral in Macksville last month.

He said it would be an emotional time not only for himself, but for the entire Australian team.

"It was always a time that I was not really looking forward to," he said

"But in the end, enough time has sort of passed to be able to find my own personal way to be able to deal with what happened to Phil.

"I am sure once I get out into the middle and playing, those visions will be coming back."

It is understood Hughes's heartbroken family will attend the Test.
