Four Ball golf titles decided

CALLIOPE'S Peter Law and Ian Coulson carded a front-nine score of 23 stableford points and finished strongly on the back nine with 25 points to win the male regional final of the Golf Queensland Four-Ball Championships.

The pair finished with an 18-hole total of 48 points at the Yeppoon Golf Club on Sunday.

They won the event by just one point from Yeppoon's Darryl Price and Lester Perkins, who finished on 47 points.

Yeppoon's Sheryl Hocking and Elaine Stewart, after carding a low 21 points on the front nine, came home strongly on the back nine with a brilliant score of 26 points to take the women's event with 47 points.

They took the championship by two points from another Yeppoon pair, Jean Breakspere and Schanell Horwell, who finished on 45 points.

All four pairs will travel to the Pelican Waters resort course to compete in the Queensland final in a two-day event in October.

Central Queensland representatives have won the prestigious Queensland final on two previous occasions.

Most golf clubs were represented at the regional final at Yeppoon on Sunday, with a record number of players taking part in the popular event.

THE Calliope Ladies Open is on tomorrow, with tee-off at 8am.

The Men's Open will be held this Sunday.
