Perfect weather smiles on big range of weekend activities

THERE'S plenty going on this weekend and today's weather is ideal to get out and about.

If you're heading to the beach, pack a hat and sunscreen - forecasters say it will get up to 31 degrees.

Event-wise we've got options with the Mount Larcom Rodeo, Cox Plate day at the Gladstone Turf Club, the Calliope Catwalk plus fundraising events around the area and the Calliope markets.

Bureau of Meterology Mackay station manager John McIlwham said today would be sunny and tomorrow would be more overcast, with possible storms building from tonight through until Monday.

"It'll be a change from the picture-perfect days. Some people right about now would actually looking forward to a bit of rain  because of how dry it's been."

This week has been a taste of what is to come, and days luxuriating outside in the Gladstone region are a given.

Kianne Humberston described what she loved about this time of year.

"Barbecues, swimming and spending heaps of time outside with the family is what I love," she said.
