WET conditions kept numbers down at the Central Coast Region Little Athletics Pentathlon, but didn't dampen the spirits of the athletes who showed up to compete.

A small but enthusiastic bunch hit the complex for five events each, relishing the cool conditions after the morning's downpour.

Expecting heavy conditions, the kids were surprised by how well the track had dried out, posting times and distances far better than initially expected.

Competitors from Bundaberg, Monto, Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the Boyne-Tannum clubs travelled to Gladstone for the event, and were not going to miss out on action.

Luckily for the athletes, the weather was clear and no disruptions occurred once the day had begun.
