Pengelly family gets together for reunion at Ubobo

MORE than 200 descendants of the Pengelly family will gather at the Discovery Centre in Ubobo on Saturday to catch up and celebrate the achievements of the family.

Eve Pengelly said the family name was well-known in the Gladstone region, stemming from when her grandparents John and Margaret settled in the 1930s.

"We are really proud of the Pengelly name and we feel that over the years we've contributed to the town," she said.

Before the 1930s, the clan was based in the mining and gemfields in central Queensland.

You can read more about the family in Saturday's Observer print edition.
