Survey shows members of peak business bodies do better

BUSINESSES that are members of the three peak business organisations performed better over the past three years and are predicting more positive outcomes for the next 12 months, than non-member businesses.

This is just one notable conclusion of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry Boom or Bust Gladstone Region Business Study.

Of the three peak business organisation in the Gladstone Region, about 55% of members of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry completed the survey, as well as 32% of members from Gladstone Engineering Alliance and 17% of Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited members.

And 33% were not members of any peak organisation.

This breakdown provided some significant messages:

  • More member businesses indicated "significant increases" in trends in the business's gross income over three years than non-members.
  • More member businesses predicted an "increased workforce" over the next 12 months than non-members.
  • More member businesses predicted a financial position "better for business" than non-members.
  • Fewer member businesses planned to "close down" in the next 12 months than non-members.
  • Fewer member businesses indicated significant decreases in trends in the business's gross income over the past three years than non-members.

It's clear businesses need to consider the value of membership with a peak business organisation.

Each business support organisation offers differing membership benefits spanning the range of industry sectors.

Membership benefits don't stop at professional development, marketing advice and tender support, but include a real insight and support network for businesses in the region.

These are benefits that make a real difference in business success.
