GLADSTONE PCYC is planning to start selling tickets this week for a fundraising event that will feature a 1000ft slip 'n' slide.

The PCYC has applied to close off Goondoon St from Yarroon St to the yacht club for the ultimate adrenalin rush event on September 13.

It is still waiting for approval from Gladstone Regional Council, but hopes to have tickets on sale this week.

Gladstone PCYC manager Mick Newell said the event would help fund courses such as the youth awareness and crime prevention programs.

The proposal has received big support from the Gladstone community.

In a poll on The Observer website, 95% of respondents said they would go to the event.
