Sailing club plaque pays tribute to Gladstone's seafarers
LOCALS turned out in force to the Gladstone Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon for an event in honour of sailors past and present, including those lost in tragic circumstances.
A memorial plaque in honour of Gladstone's sailing men and women was unveiled by the Port Curtis Sailing Club.
President John Ibell is passionate about passing on the legacy of sailing to younger generations, and was delighted to welcome about 100 members and their families to the ceremony.
His father Roy Ibell, now dead, was a life member and former president of the PCSC.
"We all remember our family privately, but this is a way to remember them publicly," he said.
