Patrol trumps Land Cruiser ‘every time’

GLADSTONE resident Cullun O'Connor was profiled for The Observer's Me and My Ride section on Febuary 2, 2013.

Q&A

NAME: Cullun O'Connor

Suburb: Gladstone west.

Make; model; year: Nissan; Patrol TD42T; 2001.

How long owned? About six months.

Where has it taken you? It's my only car, so I use it for work and play. I've taken it down to the Sunshine Coast a few times and have gone up the coast from there to take it camping on Rainbow Beach. I also did a trip a few weeks ago out to Manar Park for some bush four-wheel driving. Some time this year, my partner and I will head out to Land Cruiser Mountain Park.

What upgrades have you had done? First thing I added were the 33-inch tyres. Shortly after that, I got it dyno-tuned and wound up the boost. CD player with a sub and amp, dual batteries, UHF radio, Lightforce spotlight, LED light bar (front and back), upgraded my headlights, full Superior engineering lift kit, remote reservoir shock absorbers, Safari front-mount intercooler and, most recently my ice cube 50l fridge/freezer.

Would you ever trade it in? Maybe I'd trade the car for a newer one but not the accessories. I'd put them on the next one.

Is this your dream car and why? No doubt in my mind. It's tough and reliable. It goes further than any Land Cruiser ever will!
