Where are the New Year's Eve events for families?

DESPITE Bundaberg and Rockhampton councils hosting fireworks and events this New Year's Eve, there's still no public events on offer for families in Gladstone.

While pubs and clubs around the region have leaped at the opportunity to fill their venues with revelers, families are left scratching their heads on how they'll spend the evening.

What's on at the Reef Hotel

CELEBRATIONS will be downstairs at the Reef Hotel for New Year's Eve for the first time since their major renovations.

The renovations started four months ago and saw both levels of the hotel completely revamped with a club named Industrie downstairs and a pub and bistro area upstairs.

Pubs and clubs across the Gladstone region will offer live music, DJs and bar specials on the night of December 31.

Manager Darren Hutchinson said their in house entertainer DJ MC O.G Partez will ring in the New Year at Industrie for 2016, playing some RnB tunes.

Upstairs the restaurant and bar will be open, which Mr Hutchinson says has a very family-orientated feel.

"We've still got a kids' room in the restaurant and we're still very family-orientated. We're for the locals and for the families, that's our primary focus," he said.

All the rooms are also being renovated and are almost complete.

There is a new pokie room filled with 40 machines.

"We've also refurbished our rooftop pool… we had our first Sunday session last weekend which was really popular. It's a great place to have a drink."
