Glenn Butcher set to make maiden speech

GLADSTONE state MP Glenn Butcher will make his maiden speech in State Parliament on Thursday night.

Mr Butcher, who was elected to the position in the January 31 election, said he would be using the speech opportunity to sell Gladstone.

"I'll be letting the other members know just what a great place Gladstone is," he said.

"I'll speak about the importance of industry and our sport, but also the great quality of life we have here."

Other concerns he will raise during the speech include the need for more improvements to hospital services, the future of the land at Calliope which is intended for us as a school, and which was withdrawn from sale soon after the election.

The speech will take place at 5.10pm.

People will be able to pick up the live stream at parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/broadcast-chamber
