Parisian traveller enjoys life in Gladstone

AT 35 years of age, Bertrand Moncenix has found his way, not just to Australia, but to Gladstone.

Bertrand moved here from Paris, France, after falling in love with an Aussie woman.

The pair met in his home country four years ago and spent two years together travelling around.

Bertrand's girlfriend is a teacher in Rockhampton, and after missing home she asked Bertrand to move back home to our great Gladstone.

At the end of this month though, they have plans to move back to Brisbane to enjoy the bigger city feel.

"I'm a social worker and there's more work down south," he said.

"I do like Gladstone and it has been good for us, but I miss the city."

The main reason I want to go back is because I'm a keen capoeira (martial arts) student."

While here, Bertrand has visited Great Keppel Island, Lady Musgrove and has been generally involved with tourist-type activities.

"I'd love it," he said. "I don't mind the heat but the stingers I do."

Bertrand also enjoys taking the time to enjoy photography, travel, and guitar.

"I've been playing guitar as a hobby for 10 years, but I'm not very good," he admits.
