Parent concerned with safety around Gladstone school

LOCAL mother of four Katherine Dumbleton has expressed her concerns about the lack of safety for children and parents around Gladstone South State School.

She said she had been watching the situation for seven weeks and had seen some close calls because of the lack of signage compared to other local schools.

She said there also were issues with parents parking in no parking zones and drivers speeding.

"I am a concerned parent to these matters," she said.

"The last thing I want to see is someone injured or killed, because it's going to happen one day if something isn't done.

"What I'm most cranky about is that other schools have signage and this school doesn't."

Ms Dumbleton wanted to stress that she had the utmost respect for the few lollypop ladies that patrolled the area, but more had to be done.

She will compile a list of issues Gladstone South parents have regarding this issue before sending it off to MP Glenn Butcher.

What has your experience around the school been like? Have your say in our comments section.
