Pair attacked with timber, knife in Deception Bay burglary

UPDATE 12PM:

A MAN has been charged following an incident at Deception Bay yesterday that left a man and woman in hospital.

It will be alleged around 11.00am the pair returned to a Simon Street residence when it will be alleged they were confronted by two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a piece of timber.

Police allege the men demanded the pair hand over keys to a vehicle located at the address.

During this time it will be alleged the offenders struck the man with the piece of timber. The woman also suffered a serious laceration to her hand.

It is further alleged one of the men fled the address in the vehicle which was later located in Logan.

The second man fled in a vehicle the offenders are alleged to have arrived at the address in.

The 23-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with one count of enter dwelling with intent by break, grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and is expected to appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today (February 5)

EARLIER:

POLICE are investigating after a man and woman were assaulted and forced to hand over their car keys in a Deception Bay home this morning.

The 23-year-old man and the 24-year-old woman were returning to a house on Simon St at around 11am when they were confronted by two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a piece of timber.

The men demanded the pair hand over keys to the car parked at the address.

The offenders then struck the man with the piece of timber, and inflicted a serious laceration on the woman's hand.

The two men fled the address in the vehicle.

The man and woman are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
