Paceman rips through to deliver a win

BROTHERS paceman Daniel Mills has ripped through the Capricorn Coast batting line-up to deliver the Gladstone side a win in the Capricornia Challenge.

Defending the slim total of 121, Mills was the catalyst for the important win for Brothers, tearing through the order to compile figures of 8/23.

Standing in the slips for much of the innings, Mal Carlyon could not believe how easy Mills made it look.

"He was just bowling the stump line. He had four bowled, LBW and a caught behind," Carlyon said.

"He was attacking the stumps and doing enough with the ball."

Brothers showed signs of being able to occupy the crease for sustained periods.

Four players got themselves in - before being sent on their way by Mills.

Carlyon said if not for the brilliant bowling of Mills, Brothers' score would not have been enough. Capricorn Coast were eventually all out for a meagre 78.

"In hindsight, 121 was a good score, but Dan's figures were not about the track. He bowled great," Carlyon said.

Best players:

  • Dan Mills - 8/23
  • Mal Carlyon - 26
  • Terry Sawyer - 24
  • Tyler Sunderland - 22
  • Josh Greiving - 19
