Overwhelming response to breakfast
A sell-out crowd of 130 enjoyed the leisurely breakfast at the Gladstone Golf Club on Saturday which raised money for research into breast cancer.
Gladstone Cancer Council treasurer Lesley King said the breakfast was a great success.
“This is the second time the breakfast has been a sell-out with the last of the tickets purchased last week,” Lesley said.
Guest speaker Fei Matheson gave a talk on how she grew up in China and married an Australian man and moved to Gladstone.
“She talked about the differences between the two cultures and everyone thoroughly enjoyed her talk,” Lesley said.
The Gladstone Cancer Council holds several fundraisers during the year, including Daffodil Day and Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.
“We are really proud that the Gladstone community really got behind this worthy cause.”
Many of the people attending the breakfast had been affected by breast cancer in some way.
Bryan Jordan compered the breakfast event which included live entertainment duo Lucy Boyd and Tracy Smith.
“We would like to thank the golf club for letting us hold the breakfast there,” Lesley said.
