Gladstone to Brisbane flight cancellations among the highest
GLADSTONE to Brisbane flights have one of the highest cancellation rates in Australia, under both QantasLink and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines.
Cancellations were at 4.5%, with 13 QantasLink flights out of 223 and three Virgin ARA flights out of 133 cancelled during February.
The Brisbane to Gladstone route fared better, with 11 QantasLink flights out of 203 cancelled and two Virgin ARA flights out of 133 cancelled.
QantasLink was the worst performing regional airline with 83% on-time arrivals, but still beat domestic airline Tigerair at 81.2%.
But the airlines are still celebrating, as the monthly figures were significantly better than the long-term average performance for all routes, while the rate of cancellations was below the long-term average.
The results were released in last month's Federal aviation report for domestic airlines.
A QantasLink spokesperson said 94.3% of QantasLink flights from Brisbane to Gladstone departed on time in February.
"We know how important it is for our customers to get to their destination on time, whether it be for an important meeting or getting home in time for dinner with the family," the spokesperson said.
