OPINION: Let's find out if there's enough parking in CBD
OVER the past 20 or so years I have dined, shopped, recreated, exercised, lived and worked in Gladstone's CBD. When I talk to people about the CBD one of the issues consistently raised is parking.
Everyone has an opinion. Is there enough parking or not? Well, we are about to find out.
The council resolved in February to embark on the "Activating the Gladstone CBD" initiative to stimulate the CBD and create a place that is popular and user friendly, where business thrives.
A vibrant place with community spirit.
Bring it on, I say.
Parking will receive a lot of attention during this process.
If there is one thing I know and love about the community of Gladstone it is our strength of spirit and willingness to voice strong opinions.
The way people enter, leave and move around the CBD will have a significant impact on how it develops into the future.
People who use the CBD will be consulted, the number of car parks required short and long term will be identified, the best centralised parking sites will be located and planning for traffic movements will be made.
Let's end the debate and find out just how much parking is enough.
