One-armed prawn peeling competition is back

CAN you peel a prawn with one hand?

The return of the Gladstone Seafood Festival will see its favourite competition restarted.

Gladstone's Rob Kidd is the reigning one-armed prawn peeling champion, and he will attempt to hold onto his title this Sunday.

Mr Kidd has held the title - along with the championship trophy - since the last festival, four years ago.

When asked whether he would defend his title, he said: "Bring it on!"

He issued a challenge this week to Observer reporter Mara Pattison-Sowden, who has accepted the challenge along with Gladstone councillor Col Chapman.

The three contenders will go up against three community members at the Gladstone Marina soundstage at 1.45pm.

Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd and Gladstone Festival and Events will host the festival, from 10am-5pm.

The festival will feature fresh seafood, free rides, market stalls, licensed bar, and live entertainment by Mo Swagger, The Corporates, 2 Doors Down and Absolutely.
