Old Tannum Sands Rd closed to facilitate repairs from floods

THE 2.7km stretch of road between Broadacres Dr and the Bruce Hwy was closed on Friday pending immediate repairs.

A washed out culvert has forced the immediate closure of that section of (Old) Tannum Sands Rd.

Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Gail Sellers said the section of Tannum Sands Rd suffered significant damage as a result of ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald and major repair work is now necessary.

She said road closed signs were in place and access was restricted to local traffic only.

Access to 471 Tannum Sands Rd and Council's Water Reservoir at 475 Tannum Sands Rd will be restricted to local access only approaching from Tannum Sands.

Boral Quarries access will be from the Bruce Highway, restricted to local traffic only.

"The closure is expected to be enforced until Sunday night but will be dependent on the availability of specific materials needed for the repairs," Cr Sellers said.
