Oh survives day of upsets

SOUTH Korea's Oh Jin-hyek has survived a minefield of upsets to win gold in the men's individual archery at the London Olympics.

The men's archery had seen world champions, world record holders and raging favourites fall by the wayside.

THE Netherlands' Rick van der Ven produced one of the upsets of the competition when he knocked out the world record holder Im Dong-hyun in the last 16.

While earlier in the competition, world number one Brady Ellison of the United States was knocked out by Australia's Taylor Worth.

However, Oh stayed straight and true through the final matches, before producing the his best performance in the gold medal match, beating Japan's Takaharu Furukawa 7-1. 

China's Xiaoxiang Dai won bronze.
