Man in court after being kicked out of club

THE only thing a man has in his life is his reputation.

Those words were left ringing in Joshua John Kohler's ears when he was convicted and sentenced for a public nuisance offence in Gladstone Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

The 19-year-old engineering student was fined $500 with no conviction recorded.

The court heard police observed Kohler and two other men being ejected from nightclub Mie Place.

Police observed Kohler yelling obscenities before he rushed at the doorway.

The two security guards on duty stopped him from getting back inside.

Kohler was arrested and kicked his feet towards police officers, and refused to go into the paddy wagon.

Magistrate Penelope Hay said she took into account that Kohler had entered an early plea and had no criminal history.

She said his offence was "at the extreme end" and involved pushing and verbal assault.

Kohler was issued a banning order from a number of Gladstone licensed establishments.
