Gladstone Hospital welcomes five graduates to its wards

FIVE graduate nurses are starting their careers at Gladstone Hospital this week.

Acting director of nursing Damien Lawson believes it is an excellent prospect for not only the nurses, but the hospital as well.

"This is a great opportunity for a new graduate, and it's also beneficial to the hospital," he said.

"We're growing our workforce with tailored training to meet our needs, and those of our patients."

Graduate nurse Imogene Carlson was excited to start.

"This will give us a chance to build our skills and to give back to the Gladstone community," she said.

The nurses will be training in the emergency department, maternity ward and the high dependency unit.
