New Year's Eve beach wedding a perfect start

ORANA Craig and Mitchell Bourke were married at the beach, the perfect setting to celebrate spending the rest of their lives together.

The couple held their wedding on New Year's Eve at Canoe Point with 60 family and friends to witness the ceremony.

Mr Bourke's aunt and cousins travelled from Woolongong to attend the wedding.

The reception was at Mr Bourke's mother's property in Tannum Sands.

Mrs Bourke said although it had been a wonderful day, the weather was not in their favour.

"Everything ran smoothly, except I was 45 minutes late," she said.

"The boys were about to jump in the water - it would've been hot.

"There was a big storm cloud coming over."

Mrs Bourke wore a traditional ball cut gown from Hills in Hollywood in Rockhampton.

"It had lace along the bottom and I had alterations done for a corset on the back of the dress," she said.

The cake was made by Absolutely Temptations.

It was a beach-themed, three tiered cake with a sand effect on it.

Mrs Bourke said there were a few funny stories from the day, but one stood out to her.

"Thanks to my hairdresser Matt from Neo Couture - he got me ready really well," she said.

"He brushed my teeth and it was the most awkward but funny thing.

"He just didn't want me to wreck my makeup or get it on my dress!"

Mrs Bourke said she would like to thank Something Special for the set up on the beach.

Mr and Mrs Bourke have been together for the past six years.

They met in high school and in 2009.

They are yet to decide on a honeymoon destination.
