NRL star granted appeal against manslaughter conviction
FORMER NRL star Craig Field has been granted an appeal in November against his conviction over the death of cattle farmer Kelvin Kane.
The 42-year-old was acquitted of murdering Mr Kane during a fight in the Kingscliff Beach Hotel car park in northern NSW in 2012.
He was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years jail with a no chance of parole for seven years and six months.
The maximum penalty for manslaughter in NSW is 25 years.
Field will face the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal in Sydney for a hearing on November 27.
