People have spoken - now will Coalition honour its promises?
THE people of Australia have spoken.
And it's pretty obvious from the election result that Labor is not the popular party it once was, and it's time to see if the other lot can do the job any better.
One big issue the new government will face will be to honour its promises, including the big one - dismantling the carbon tax scheme, which seemed to be the major issue that could well have swayed voters.
During the 2010 election campaign, Julia Gillard stated that a carbon tax would not be applied while she was Prime Minister.
It didn't work out that way and she has been called a liar because of that statement and the major U-turn.
Mr Abbott cannot afford to let such a thing happen with his promise to get rid of the highly unpopular and unproductive tax.
Whether or not he'll be able to follow through will be a matter of wait and see.
But isn't it great! The campaign's now over and we don't have to listen to claptrap for another three years.
