What I'm reading: Manager loves romance and scandal

THIS week we talk about books and reading with Nightowl Coffee Club manager Prudence Allen.

Name: Prudence Allen.

Occupation: Manager of the Nightowl Coffee Club.

What are you reading at the moment? Lots of books, mostly on organisational change and development. They are all for my subjects.

Who is your favourite author? Probably Julian Finn, who wrote Gone Girl - it's an amazing book.

Or Jackie Collins, she writes a lot of Hollywood drama, romance and scandal. I love that stuff.

Hardcopy or electronic? Hardcopy. For the authenticity. I have never read electronic books, I like having a real thing in front of me.

What is your favourite genre? Romance, scandal that sort of thing. I am a bit of a romantic.

My partner always tells me that I read too much of it. I like all genres though - reading is like an escape from reality and a great way to spend your down time.

Did you like 50 Shades of Grey? Not at all. I didn't like the author's writing. Something about it I just didn't like.

I couldn't even finish the first book, I just couldn't connect with the story.

If I really wanted to read a book but the movie came out before hand I would ... Depends how long I would have to wait.

With the novel Gone Girl I waited - and I'm so glad I did. The book was much better and went into so much more detail.

A book I have recently read ... The Secrets of a Happy Family. I'm actually pregnant at the moment with my second child.

The last time I gave birth was to my daughter about 15 years ago, so I thought I should probably catch up on the topic.
