No pressure on improving Declan

GOLF: Gladstone's Declan Corke is one of five Central Queenslanders who are currently competing at the State Junior Amateur Championships in Bargara.

Declan joined Yeppoon trio Isaac Jensen, Quinn Stover and Jake Swaffield while brothers Adan and Ben Scott are from Cap Coast.

"I've got no pressure on myself," Declan declared just prior to his 10.50am tee-off yesterday before he finished with 78

"I have been working on my short game and have improved with my putting and my long game's been pretty good."

The cut-off, in which the top 30 per cent go through to days three and four, is at the completion of today's round.

Declan said he will aim to score in the mid-to-late 70s, which should be enough to avoid the cut-off.

He will play a two-day Winter Classic at Keperra Golf club next Monday and Tuesday.
