No fairytale for NBL legend as Power is outgunned

DEREK Rucker has not ruled out playing more matches for the McDonald's Port City Power.

The former NBL star said he would need to see how his body bounced back from 27 minutes of action on Friday night before making a decision.

"I thought I felt good in terms of playing, but not having an impact and was restricted," he said.

"I will see how I bounce back at the age of 47. I have felt this type of pain before but eight years ago."

It was clearly visible Rucker struggled in the last quarter on Friday night to match the speed and agility of his younger opponents.

The match was already gone for the Power when Rucker began shooting the ball a little bit more, and while the stroke was the same, the shots did not want to fall.

He finished with five points on two of nine shooting.

Rucker was not concerned with the performance or the eventual result, but was just happy to make it through and see such a good response from Gladstone.

"It is the only game in my life it was secondary or tertiary to me and not result-oriented," he said of the score line.

"I am smiling and that is the main thing."

Rucker was in awe of the support shown by Gladstone's fans, and said if he could get his body right they might see him again.

"It is uncharted territory for me," he said.

"The people are appreciative when you put this much effort in and they have seen me around a lot."

Mackay 100 defeated Power 68.
