No doubts this is rally country
TRAVELLERS touching down in Coffs Harbour will be in no doubt this is the new home of World Rally Australia.
A Ford display model rally car is now holding pride of place at our airport.
Coffs Harbour airport manager Dennis Martin said the vehicle was the showpiece of a world rally promotion being rolled out across the busy facility.
“The airport will be a focal point during the world rally on the Coffs Coast as the vehicle service centre will be located here,” Mr Martin said.
“The promotion in the lead-up will see banners placed inside the terminal and along the airport road so every- one flying into Coffs Harbour will know the rally will be held here in September.”
Rally Australia operations manager Ben Raggatt said the hype was building and planning for the world championship round had now begun in earnest.
“We are close to finalising the routes and will have the clerk of the course, Michelle Gatton, in Coffs Harbour this weekend. We are not too far off announcing the location of the stages to the public,” he said.
World Rally Australia roars into action in 138 days. The event’s ‘Power Stage’ on the Sunday will be beamed live across the globe to a potential television audience of more than 570 million people.
